Strucà is a no-butter, dairy-free cake, made with extra-virgin olive oil and produced all year round. It is light and airy, with the delicate honey-vanilla flavor of panettone. It is topped with icing and Bari almonds.

The high percentage of unsaturated fats make olive oil a panacea for heart and blood vessels. Its phenols are powerful antioxidants, fighting against free radicals. A lot of healthy properties of olive oil were already known in the remote past. For ancient Romans oil was such a symbol of longevity and beauty that Cleopatra used to have long baths dipped in the olive oil.

Pasticceria Filippi has its beginnings in 1972 in Zané, in the province of Vicenza, when Maria and Giuliano began baking authentic cakes and pastries using only the best ingredients they could find. Today, together with their sons Andrea and Lorenzo, the family continues to operate with their philosophy that everything that is made well, with care and passion, requires time. This quintessential Umbrian EVOO is harvested from an ancient single olive variety called ‘Dolce Agogia’ (meaning ‘sweet drop’). Dolce Agogia olives are grown on the beautiful Lake Trasimeno hillsides in the territory of Perugia and have the fortitude to withstand winter frosts and dry summer heat. They are carefully harvested at their peak from October until the first week of November. After a continuous cold extraction cycle, this Monocultivar oil reveals why it is one of the most appreciated tastes of the region. Extraordinarily smooth and gentle, it is sober and soft in the mouth with medium to light fruitiness, highlighted by refined, slightly bitter notes that lengthen into a spicy finish with soft almond tones.

The Vesuvio Piennolo cherry tomato is a tomato variety grown in the southern region of Campania, around Mount Vesuvius. It is one of the oldest and most typical varieties grown in the region.

It has an elongated, oval shape, slightly resembling a pear, and features a pointed tip (spongillo). The skin is thick and the flesh firm; it can be stored for a long time.

The Piennolo tomatoes are commonly hung up in bunches tied with hemp string, hence the name “piennolo”, meaning “hanging” in Neapolitan dialect. Their flavor benefits from a rich concentration of minerals in the lava soil.

Owner Diana Attianese continues her family’s passion and tradition with San Marzano and other authentic local varietals of tomato.
